Sebastian Copeland
 
 

Sebastian Copeland is an accomplished photographer, intrepid explorer and passionate spokesperson for climate change. As an International speaker on climate crisis for over a decade, Sebastian has been featured on television, radio and various publications (CNN's Larry King Live, Al Gore's Current TV, and in National Geographic, Vanity Fair, Sierra Club, Publisher's Weekly, W Magazine, Elle, People, USA Today). He has addressed audiences at the United Nations, The World Affairs Council, the General Assembly on Climate in New Orleans (President Gorbachev in attendance), the George Eastman House, as well as the Google and Apple Headquarters. Sebastian's celebrity subjects include Sandra Bullock, Elijah Wood, Kate Bosworth, Salma Hayek, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Phil Collins, and Orlando Bloom. He has shot movie posters for The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, and for such films as Pirates of the Caribbean's, Troy and Seabiscuit.

His still work has appeared in hundreds of publications worldwide including GQ, Marie Claire, The Face, Cosmopolitan, Vanity Fair, Elle Magazine, Interview Magazine, and National Geographic Explorer. His first book, ANTARCTICA: The Global Warning, features an introduction by President Gorbachev and a foreword by Leonardo DiCaprio. The book is now in its third printing in five languages and has received international awards including "Professional Photographer of the Year" by the 2007 International Photography Award. The follow up publication, ANTARCTICA: A Call to Action, features an essay by Orlando Bloom, and is scheduled to publish in Fall 2008 by Palace Press Publishing.

A long standing commitment to fight for the protection of the environment has led to a seat on the Board of Directors of Global Green USA. Sebastian also holds a seat on the Board of Directors of Shine On Sierra Leone, an NGO providing an educational platform for children of war-torn nations.

His fine quality prints have appeared in solo shows at the United Nations, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Salon Imperial in Paris, the Flo Peters Gallery in Hamburg, among others. Museum shows include the Fields Museum (Chicago) and the Salon d'Exposition in Monaco, with upcoming shows at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA and the San Luis Obispo Art Museum. His work can be found in private collections in both the United States and Europe and several are now part of the permanent collection of The Natural World Museum in San Francisco.
